Top 3 Parks in Barcelona for Your Next City Break

Barcelona is without a doubt one of the best places to visit in Spain and in Europe. If you are the first time here you have to give it at least a few weeks out of your precious holiday time. But if you are looking just for a relaxing city break on a budget, you can take in consideration relaxing in one of the many extraordinary parks of this marvelous city.

Parc de la Ciutadella

I was the first time here on my honey moon, so it will always be a special place for me. But putting my subjectivity aside... or at least trying to, as in this case it's very difficult... Parc de la Ciutadella remains one of the most popular places in Barcelona... loved by the tourists as well as the locals. It was established in the middle of the 19th century, and for decades it was the only green area in Barcelona. So it's understandable that the locals have a long standing tradition to spend their leisure time here. My favorite place is in front of Josep Fontserè's fountain.

Parc del Laberint d'Horta

If you think that everybody loves a green labyrinth in a park. Well, Barcelona has just the right park for you, the Parc del Laberint d'Horta. It is a the oldest of its kind in the city, formed of an 18th century neoclassical garden and a 19th century romantic garden. It's the perfect place to loose yourself in the arms of your lover. My favorite place here is the Torre Sobirana, the medieval watchtower. it's amazing. You have to see it to believe it's magic.

Guell Park

Any visit to Barcelona should include at least one attraction by Gaudi... and my opinion is that Guell park is the best choice. I use any opportunity to see anything on the UNESCO World Heritage List, but this park needs no convincing... once you are there you forget about the real world, as you step into a world of magic, the wild imagination of the cities most famous architect Antoni Gaudi... and don't forget to take a picture in front of the mosaic salamander. :)
